Philadelphia, PA- The Philadelphia University men's and women's cross country teams made Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) history with a sweep of the CACC Championships on a rainy Saturday afternoon at Belmont Plateau. No other team had ever won both the men's s and women's championships until today. The women were the defending CACC Champions.
The men were led by junior Shawn D'Andrea (Blackwood, NJ/ Paul VI) who finished second overall in 27:29 to match his best CACC Championship performance (he finished second overall as a sophomore). Other PhilaU All-Conference finishers were: senior Andrew Piotrowski in fourth (27:59), Kip Kirui in fifth (28:12), Tyler Dye in sixth (29:21) and Kirk Tencate in 15th (29:02).
The women were led by sophomore Sarah Simonetti (Perkasie, PA/ Pennridge) who took second-overall in 20:18- her best career finish at the Championship event. Other CACC All-Conference finishers were: sophomore Anjelica Dinucci in fourth (20:25), sophomore Gabrielle Dei Tos in sixth (21:31), senior Faith Anderson in seventh (21:32) and junior Kaitlin O'Leary in 12th (21:50).
