PhilaU Bids Simonetti Good Luck at NCAA National Championships
Philadelphia, PA- Philadelphia University well wishers gathered at the Gallagher Athletic Center on Thursday morning to send off sophomore runner Sarah Simonetti (Perkasie, PA/ Pennridge) in style as she departed for her first-ever NCAA Cross Country National Championships, held at Southern Indiana University in Evansville.
Simonetti's 6K race will be held on Saturday (11/21) at 1 p.m. eastern time.
Head Coach Dave Thomas and Assistant Coach Erin Donohue will accompany Simonetti on the trip, which she punched her ticket for two weeks ago at the NCAA East Regionals in Boston- finishing fifth overall in the women's 6K (22:52). Simonetti is the first-ever PhilaU or Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) runner to ever qualify for the NCAA DII National Championship race.
The top 40 runners for both the men and the women automatically become All-Americans.
