XC/Track Adds All-American as New Assistant Coach

Philadelphia, PA- Philadelphia University Cross Country/Track Head Coach Dave Thomas has announced the hiring of Niema Golphin as the program’s newest assistant coach, effective immediately.

“Niema brings us a strong track background and a passion for running.  She will help our teams with form, technique and conditioning,” said Thomas.

Golphin was an eight-time All-American at Azusa Pacific University (APU) in California.  She graduated from APU in 2004 with a B.A. in physical education and also holds a M.S. in organizational leadership from the same institution.

As a student-athlete, Golphin was an eight-time All-American at APU, which competed in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA).  She was also a four-time national champion in the 200 and 400 meter events for the Cougars.  She holds the Golden State Conference record in the 400m (53.5) and the stadium record at Fresno Pacific University in the same event.

Golphin replaces former assistant Erin Donohue, who decided to focus on her professional running career with Nike.  Donohue served for four-years as an assistant coach, during which time she competed at the 2008 Beijing Olympics in the 1500m event.
