White Clay Creek Park, DE - The Philadelphia University women's cross country team finished 2nd overall (of 9 teams) and the men took 4th place (also out of 9 nine teams) at Saturday's Blue and Gold Invitational at the University of Delaware.
The PhilaU women were led by junior Sarah Simonetti, who finished second overall and set a new school record in the 5K. Simonetti finished with a time of 18:50, breaking her previous best of 19:27 time in 2009.
Kip Kirui also ran a personal best of 27:18 (7th place) in the men's race.
Both teams return to action Saturday (10/23) when they will compete in the Cabrini Invitational at the Belmont Plateau. The race is scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m.
